Cloud specialist adds French messaging and IM firm for $45m.

Marseille-based Miyowa has been plugging away at its social messaging platform since the mid-noughties, and counts customers switch as Orange, HTC, Samsung, Huawei and ZTE.

It builds products for these firms that aggregate Facebook, Twitter, Windows Live, Yahoo!, Gtalk and other popular social networks.

Synchronoss says it will use the acquisition to enhance its ConvergenceNow service and its overall cloud strategy across multiple devices and operating platforms. It currently enables over 100m devices.

Stephen G. Waldis, CEO of Synchronoss, said: “Our ConvergenceNow Plus+ platform enables devices to connect, sync and activate an expanding array of services from any device.

"Our combined value proposition will truly enable mobile and social to come together, delivering a significant unified and easy to use social experience for our Tier 1 Service Providers and OEM customers.”

The purchase price of the acquisition is approximately $45.5 million in cash, plus an additional $13.5 million in cash based on targets set over the next four quarters.
