Source smashes rumours of photo app hitting Microsoft-powered devices.
Facebook-owned Instagram has more than 80m users across Android and iOS, while 40 per cent of the top global brands use the retro photo-sharing app.
A source reckons Instagram could have been working on a version for WinPho but isn't anymore, with development put on ice following the Facebook buyout.
Facebook refused to comment and it should be noted that it took around 18 months for Instagram to expand from iOS to Android, though that was without the $1bn backing of the world's largest social network.
The takeover has already seen Instagram users almost triple, and at the time of the swoop Facebook said it would play to the app's strengths.
Meanwhile, RIM is thought to be developing a native Instagram-like app for the BlackBerry 10 OS.
