New social network feature to allow users to exchange iTunes digital gifts.
For those among you who may be struggling with ideas for Christmas gifts for your nearest and dearest, the introduction of Facebook Gifts may come as a welcome tool in easing the present-buying process.
Facebook Gifts, which is being trialled in the US, allows users of the social network to instantly purchase iTunes digital items for their friends. Users will also be able to recommend albums, movies, games and apps for their pals and chums.
Furthermore, Facebook Gifts will soon allow friends to exchange physical gifts. The service works by allowing the user to select a gift for their chosen friend and then add a personal message. The intended recipient then enters his or her own shipping info and delivery details.
However, with users having to submit debit/credit card details on Facebook, it will certainly be interesting to see just how quickly the new feature catches on with consumers.
The Facebook Gifts initiative is set to rollout across countries outside the US “soon.”
