More than 50 videos available to choose from.

Facebook is busy pushing its own social gifting platform, aptly named Facebook Gifts, but Amazon has introduced a video-enabled way to send personalised gift cards through the aforementioned social network and email.

Consumers will be able to convey Christmas greetings, birthday wishes and more via Amazon Video Gift Cards, which embed JibJab Starring You videos, allowing the senders to add their faces to the content.

The gift giver can choose from more than 50 videos, while they can top the card up with up to $2,000 before mailing the finished product instantly or at a specified time.

The caveat is that the recipient will only be able to spend the voucher on Amazon, though the retailer is keen to highlight that  its marketplace has millions of items to choose from.

Max Bardon, GM of Amazon Gift Cards, said: "We’re excited to add Amazon Video Gift Cards to our growing set of digital gift card products. We think customers will love uploading a family photo to one of our entertaining holiday-themed video gift cards and enjoy the engaging gift-giving experience of the new Amazon Video Gift Cards this season."
