3 UK reports over-indexing data usage from customers using low-cost social networking handset.
An average of 65 per cent of 3 UK's INQ1 customers are using Facebook, with the majority of users accessing the site at least once a day.
INQ, a division of 3-owner Hutchison Whampoa, makes phones that give users seamless access to social media services.
Its first device, the INQ1, integrated Facebook, Skype, Yahoo, Google and various IM apps, and sold 700,000 units.
Other usage patterns among 3 UK INQ1 customers detailed today include 30 per cent regularly using email, 19 per cent using Skype and 50 per cent using Windows Live Messenger (3-4 times the 3Uk average).
INQ is also seeing strong numbers at 3 Hong Kong, which launched the device in March 2009. Fifty per cent of INQ1 customers there regularly use data services on a level that is four times higher per subscriber than the typical 3G user base.
Facebook usage is also three to four times higher than the average on other 3G devices on the 3 Hong Kong network.
Yesterday INQ told Reuters it was working on a new Twitter-based device that will use wi-fi to send 140-character messages rather than using SMS.
