Deal means Wal-Mart, Best Buy and BET mobile portals can offer real music tones from UMG.
PlayPhone has inked a deal to offer real music tones from UMG artists through the direct-to-consumer portals it manages for the likes of Wal-Mart, Best Buy and BET in the US.
The company already has agreements in place with Sony BMG and EMI. Last week PlayPhone moved into Italy with its own Splash portal brand.
Ron Czerny, CEO at PlayPhone, said: “As mobile consumers continue to make the jump from the last of the polyphonic handsets to more-capable rich media devices, it is important that we round out our catalog to make sure they have access to the best selection available.”
