Trusted Service Manager (TSM) to enable secure management of NFC services across European markets.

Digital security firm Gemalto has revealed that its LinqUs Trusted Service Manager (TSM) platform has been selected by T-Mobile for the group-wide rollout of NFC services in Poland.

Designed to enable the secure installation and management of T-Mobile’s NFC services across Europe’s key markets, Gemalto’s TSM platform will be deployed initially in Poland.

Gemalto provided T-Mobile’s network operator in Poland (PTC) with a comprehensive NFC solution comprising the TSM platform and the mobile wallet software, along with the UpTeq NFC high-end card for mass deployment of SIM-based mobile contactless services. PTC will begin its nationwide SIM upgrade to the new UpTeq NFC card by the end of the year in order to ensure NFC-readiness for the deployment of a wide range of services to its subscriber base of 14 million. Furthermore, Gemalto’s end-to-end solution will assist PTC in expanding its portfolio of NFC services through the addition of new partners over time.

The programme marks the inaugural nationwide NFC rollout in Poland, which has been a forerunner of contactless payment, with more than 10 million banking cards and over 90,000 contactless terminals currently active in the field, representing over 20 per cent of the total point-of-sale readers.

Jean-Claude Deturche, Gemalto senior vice president, Mobile Financial Services, said: "Gemalto’s NFC solution provides PTC with the excellent flexibility required to easily ramp up additional mobile contactless service. The project delivery expertise of our teams is key to the smooth deployment of their NFC programme, and our capabilities acquired through several dozens of TSM commercial implementations worldwide will help T-Mobile in tapping the enormous potential of mobile contactless services being deployed in Europe."

Earlier this week, Vodafone also partnered with the digital security provider to roll out a global NFC service.
