More NFC expertise from Toronto-based startup.
Google's interest in mobile payments is no secret. It's certainly pushing the NFC capability of its new Nexus S phone hard.
Now, news has emerged that Google may have derived some of its NFC expertise from ZetaWire.
Tech analyst a451 Group has unearthed details of the acquisition, which may have taken place many months ago.
Zetawire apparently made a US patent application for “a payment system, an advertising system, and an identity management system”.
NFC is very hot right now, with US carriers AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile recently agreeing to pool resources on the Isis mobile commerce network.
