e-commerce company Wirecard will provide the technology for the roll out of Orange Cash into France.

Orange chose Wirecard – who last year powered Deutsche Telekom’s m-payments initiative - as its partner for the launch of Orange Cash into France for its technical platform needed to manage the mobile payment application.

The service will allow consumers to pay with their mobile device at any contactless POS terminal.

Orange will also take advantage of Wirecard’s - who is a member of Visa Europe – loyalty and couponing platform to launch mobile value-added services.

Markus Braun, CEO at Wirecard, said: “Orange is pioneering mobile contactless payments on the French market. We are very pleased to collaborate with Orange in creating the future of mobile payments in France.”

Owners of NFC-enabled smartphones who will use the service will also benefit from incentive and cashback offers. They will for now, also be able to use their prepaid-based account to make purchases easily and securely in any online shop of their choice using a virtual one-time-use credit card.

Wirecard will also be issuing and provisioning virtual Visa cards into NFC-enabled SIM cards, as well as providing the whole technical infrastructure for managing and adding funds to stored-value-accounts with a credit card or bank transfer.
