Tools tailored to individual industries like salons, bars and so on.

Groupon acquired mobile point-of-sale (MPOS) startup Breadcrumb over a year ago, at which time it was tailored as solution for nightclubs and food places.

The daily deals provider recently enhanced the service to support additional bricks-and-mortal businesses like spas and so on, and now gives the iPad platform another update.

The new features have been tailored to specifically support the diverse local businesses subscribed to its platform. That means salons, spas, cafes, bars, retailers, restaurants, bars and so on can open the service with menus and options appropriate for their particular establishment.

Mihir Shah, VP of merchant OS, Groupon, said: "Groupon has worked with several hundred thousand local businesses around the world and through these relationships they've told us they want a point-of-sale that is specific to their type of business.

"Breadcrumb POS is free, easy to use, designed for seven of the most popular types of local businesses and comes with one of the most competitive payment processing plans in the United States."

Breadcrumb allows businesses to process transactions, scan and redeem Groupon deals, track performance and more.
