Zune software for Windows Mobile?

Zune software for Windows Mobile?

Microsoft appears to be gearing up for some kind of Zune Mobile-based ad campaign.

It all stems from a report in Adweek, which said that Microsoft was asking its agencies to come up with ideas for a 'new mobile application', code named Pink.

Ears have pricked at that last part, with Pink apparently Microsoft's secret squirrel moniker for anything to do with its Zune media players when it comes to mobile.

The ad-campiagn in question is due start production in May. The current betting is on some kind of Zune-branded media software being embedded into Windows Mobile-powered phones.

Of course, there have been long-standing rumours that Microsoft is beavering away on a full-fledged Zune Phone in order to head iPhone off at the pass.

However, these are usually dismissed on the grounds that any such move would seriously upset all those operators and handset makers that license/offer Windows Mobile devices.
