ZTE unveils Mimosa X smartphone ahead of MWC

Powered by Nvidia chipset.

Low end manufacturer ZTE is currently riding high after securing the second fastest market share rise behind Apple in Q4.

The firm announced plans to focus on high end devices and the Mimosa X appears to be said device.

The Ice Cream Sandwich device will be powered by Nvidia, using a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and a Nvidia Icera 450 HSPA+ modem, which ZTE says enables the phone to be targeted at users that take their "handset audio and video capabilities seriously."

Other features include:

* 5MP flash-enabled rear camera
* 0.3MP front-facing camera
* HD TFT touchscreen
* 4GB memory expandable to 32GB

Mr. He Shiyou, executive VP and head of the Terminal Division, ZTE, said: "The Tegra processor and Icera modem will play an important part in the development of the mobile handset market, and ZTE has worked closely with NVIDIA to develop the Mimosa X smartphone in time for launch at this major global telecoms industry event.

"We expect that the Tegra processor will have a big impact on the mainstream mobile communications world in the coming months and years."

The Mimosa X is due to be launched in Q2 2012.
