Special issue comes with clips of nearly 500 songs to listen to.
Rolling Stone has launched an interactive version of its new 500 Greatest Songs of All Time issue, in partnership with digital publishing firm Zinio.
The issue is available through Zinio's iPad app, as well as for PC, Mac and Linux computers.
As the title implies, the issue focuses on 500 songs. The interactivity comes with 30-second audio clips of the tracks, and the option to tap through to buy them.
"These are all the songs you need to have on your iPad," says Rolling Stone's executive editor Jason Fine.
"With Zinio, you can listen to the songs while you read, giving our audience an exciting way to experience the list."

The caveat is that not all the songs chosen by Rolling Stone are available as audio clips and buy links due to licensing reasons - for example, The Beatles.
Zinio is hoping to deploy this kind of interactivity in the e-magazines of more publishers, offering an alternative to them creating their own iPad apps.
