Zingy becomes Vindigo

Zingy becomes Vindigo

US content portal changes name, drops personalisation, embraces connectivity.

The For-Side-owned D2C company, which has run through more CEO's in the last two years than Real Madrid has had coaches, says the ringtone and personalisation market is 'in decline'.

As such, both categories have been dropped from its line-up, to be replaced by mobile applications 'similar to Vindigo’s MapQuest Mobile, MovieGoer, and Vindigo City Guide.'

Newly branded as Vindigo (a company that Zingy merged with back in 2005) the compoany will also focus on mobile advertising where it says it 'has continually launched high margin, active campaigns for Fortune 100 companies since 2000'.

Scott Jenson, until now Zingy's SVP and head of business development, has been appointed 'new'  Vindigo's CEO.

He said: "Our new strategic direction leverages our strengths as market leader in network-aware applications and refocuses us on the high growth opportunities in mobile entertainment, which today are cross platform applications, mobile advertising and casual games."
