Zed has launched an ad-funded 'free' SMS service for members of its content communities.The Zed Free SMS service is part of the company's ongoing drive to combine its PC and mobile content offerings and is available initially in Spain and the UK.
Anyone signing up to the Zed community can automatically send up to five SMSes a day using a PC-to-mobile interface, with 'premium' users able to send 10 messages a day for a £3 weekly subscription.
The service will allow the user to send an SMS containing 100 characters, leaving 60 for advertising.
Zed Free SMS will have its own online advertising campaign in different online portals, including MSN and Google.
