Promising brands strong results.
Google has announced that it's starting to sell banner ads on YouTube's US and Japanese mobile websites, on the back of YouTube's global mobile traffic growing by 160% in 2009.
"At launch YouTube will immediately provide one of the largest audiences for a mobile ad campaign anywhere on the mobile web," blogs YouTube's strategic partner development manager Taylor Cascino.
"Because YouTube mobile attracts early adopters, the site can deliver to advertisers a coveted demographic of tech savvy trendsetters."
The new banner ads will be sold on the home, search and browse pages of the two YouTube mobile sites, although no plans to extend this beyond the US and Japan have been announced.
Brands including Sony, Mazda and Kia are already on board.

The ads will be sold on a full-day basis, adopting the same model as YouTube's website homepage, which Google says will make the mobile banners "an easy and valuable addition to any YouTube campaign".
