YOC takes on iAd with new rich mobile ad format

YOC Ad Plus launching for iPhone and iPad with Wilkinson Sword campaign.

Mobile agency YOC has launched a new rich media advertising format for iPhone and iPad, which it hopes will take on Apple's own iAd.

The new format can include videos, photo galleries and '360-degree rotation', as well as couponing and social media promotion.

Like iAd, consumers don't have to leave the application the ad unit is embedded in, to interact with it.

Wilkinson Sword has signed up as the first brand to use YOC Ad Plus. The format will roll out to Android later this Autumn, following its iOS debut.

Advertisers will be able to target their ads by location, age and gender, and time of day, while also choosing what apps they wish to advertise in.

"We are the first company to offer advertisers such a rich format on a premium open network," says advertising director Gary Danks.

"YOC Ad Plus allows advertisers to hand pick well known media titles on which to run their campaigns, offering a solid advertising environment."

YOC is launching its new format in Europe, ahead of iAd making its own debut on this side of the Atlantic.
