Now iOS users can make like Bjork and Little Boots on a budget.
Yamaha's Tenori-On electronic instrument has been a hit with musicians like Little Boots and Bjork, but it's a trifle expensive for more casual music-makers given its 400-quid price point.
You can see what's coming, right? There's an app for that. An official one from Yamaha called TNR-i, which runs across iPhone and iPad, and has a much more affordable price tag of £11.99.
The app - like the instrument - involves creating music from a 16x16 grid of buttons, creating recurring patterns and rhythms. The app includes a networked feature for up to four users to make music at once, making innovative use of Apple's Game Center community.
The TNR-i app also uses the same presents and performance files as the physical Tenori-On, meaning people who own both can transfer works-in-progress between them.
