Yahoo's Euro mobile boss Mitch Lazar quits

Latest exec to leave.

Mitch Lazar, Yahoo's MD for mobile in Europe, has left the company.

According to a valedictory email sent to colleagues, he doesn't have another job lined up, but may return to the US.

"We didn’t have much of a business when I joined, but we now have over 100 mobile search and ad deals around the globe with the genesis of those beginning right here in the UK," he writes.

"Between those and the distribution deals with Nokia (NYSE: NOK) and the OEMs we really created an exciting leadership position for the company."

Lazar joined Yahoo in November 2005, having previously been VP of wireless and emerging technology at Turner, where he piloted the mobile extensions of brands like Cartoon Network.

He's just the latest exec to leave Yahoo's mobile team, following Marco Boerries, Marc Davis and Steve Boom. Yahoo may have those deals referred to in Lazar's email, but how these departures affect its future mobile strategy remain to be seen.
