Search giant abandons Yahoo Mobile smartphone app to focus on browsing experience.
Yahoo did have a beta programme for developing an app based on the browser service, but sent a notice to partners stating that “Yahoo has decided to cease development” of the app. The exeption is iPhone.
The company told ME it will continue to make apps for smartphones, just not any based on its core Yahoo! Mobile search solution.
Yahoo Mobile on the browser now combines mobile search, email, IM, and social messaging streams, and personalised Yahoo content such as news, sports, stocks, and RSS feeds.
