Yahoo! has bought the ad-funded gaming specialist Actionality, ME understands.
The search giant moved for the Munich-based mobile company earlier this month, but did not announce the deal to the press. It represents a further commitment to the mobile channel for Yahoo!, which has ramped up its mobile search activities this year with the launch of its Yahoo Go app and OneSearch simplified search system. The company is also positioning itself as a mobile ad inventory manager, clinching a deal to provide such a service for Vodafone.
Actionality has been a pioneer in the rising field of ad-funded mobile content. It works closely with brands and operators and specialises in ‘injecting’ games with ads at the point of download. The company secured seed financing from Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures in 2006.
Yahoo! and Actionality have not yet responded to ME's requests for confirmation.
