US startup Booyah has launched Booyah Society, which blends social networking and gaming.
The company was set up by former staff from PC games developer Blizzard Entertainment, which is most famous for World of Warcraft.
However, rather than pursue this kind of hardcore game on iPhone, they have opted for a more social experience, backed by $4.5 million of investment from VC firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers' iFund.
Booyah Society is hard to explain, but it involves players winning achievements for cataloguing their daily activities, from fitness to entertainment to eating out.
They can publish their doings on Facebook and Twitter from within the app, while it also provides listings for local events pulled from website Eventful.
The game is free to download, with Booyah seemingly planning to make money from in-app payments and possibly advertising in the future.
