Webwag buys ex-In-Fusio MobileScope division

Mobile widget firm wants to make a splash in the apps world.

French mobile widgets company Webwag has announced its acquisition of MobileScope, the mobile apps developer formerly part of In-Fusio.

The mobile games firm recently went into liquidation, with its publishing division assets snapped up by new firm IF Europe, which was led by former In-Fusio exec Sebastien Martin.

MobileScope was the non-publishing part of In-Fusio's business, and now belongs to Webwag. Which - stay with us here - was founded by another former In-Fusio exec, Florent Pitoun.

Webwag says its purchase includes a contract to run the Orange Games embedded games store for operator Orange, as well as MobileScope's other IP and brands.

"The integration of MobileScope within Webwag and the perfect match of both activities and teams opens real growth opportunities around app stores and medias for Webwag," says Pitoun.

"After this new step, we want to make Webwag a key actor in convergent rich media and mobile app stores."

There's no shortage of competition in that space, though. It's beginning to feel like there are almost as many white-label app store providers as there are operators likely to hire them.
