Hollywood studio makes major commitment to the Apple mobile platform.
According to Variety, Warner Bros Digital Entertainment has already released about 15 apps so far and is planning to have 40 out by the year end, with some titles coming from its theatrical unit and others from third parties.
Among those published are titles based on The Dark Knight, Terminator Salvation and other movies. The studio also is considering animated episodic video apps, games and other apps built around Warner brands.
The company believes its experience and close working relationship with Apple could make it a distributor for small developers, as well as a publisher in its own right.
