Mobile operator joins Google in support of social networking giant's universal log-in system.
Vodafone and Google are the latest companies to sign up for MySpace ID, part of the social networking company's ongoing 'open platform' initiative as it looks to take on Facebook.Put simply, MySpace ID allows community members to contact and share stuff with their friends from third-party partner sites other than their profile page.
It's now been paired with Google Friend Connect to ensure wider take-up as both companies look to take on the similar Facebook Connect, which launched last week.
For example, MySpace says the integration of the platform with Vodafone will allow mobile users to gain easier access to their account details, content and friends list from the handset.
MySpaceID, a core product within the newly-announced MySpace Open Platform (which also includes Post to MySpace and the MySpace Application Platform), is already live with AOL, Flock, Eventful, Flixster and Yoono.
