Offloads its 44 per cent stake in the French network for 7.75 billion euros.
In the noughties, Voda bought up as many opcos as it could to become the world's biggest carrier.
Now it's getting rid of some of them or 'realising maximum value from our non-controlled assets' as the official statement says.
In the case of SFR it says it will maintain its French presence via 'a partnership agreement which will allow us to continue to deliver compelling cross-border services to both consumer and enterprise customers.'
It is returning £4bn from the sale to its shareholders increasing its buy-back programme to £6.8bn.
