Vodafone sells 50k iPhones and launches two apps

Navigation and 360 People Sync go live on the App Store.

Vodafone says it delivered 50,000 iPhones to UK customers yesterday, on its first day of selling Apple's device. They had pre-ordered the handset.

Meanwhile, the operator has also launched two iPhone apps for its iPhone-toting customers.

Vodafone 360 People Sync helps people transfer their contacts from their existing handset - from a choice of more than 500 - to their iPhone.

The second app is Vodafone Navigation, offering turn-by-turn navigation for UK motorists. It's being offered for free until the end of April.

However, after that point, it will cost £3 a month if they sign up until the end of their contract, and £5 a month if they pay on a month-by-month basis.
