Operator relents after customers complain about bundled 360 apps

Vodafone had decided to re-release its Android 2.2 OS update for the HTC Desire after customers complained en mass about the unremoveable 360 apps and services it was bundled with.

The Guardian reports that the new 2.2 update will be made available to download in the 'next seven to 10 days'.

The re-release will be based on the HTC open market version of the OS, and will only be customised to ensure it carries Vodafone's network settings.

A separate version with the 360 services included will be made available at a later date.

A Vodafone statement said: "For customers who have downloaded the recent 360 update for Android 2.1, we can confirm that the Android 2.2 update will remove the 360 applications and will leave the homepage and bookmarks on your current settings."
