Vodafone New Zealand takes Bebo tools

Becomes second operator in the country to join the Open Mobile Program.

Vodafone New Zealand is the latest network to adopt the Bebo Open Mobile programme, which is designed to enable third parties to offer and integrate with the eponymous social networking site in double quick time.

The operator joins competitor Telecom in signing up to the programme.

The deal means Voda NZ customers can now get SMS updates sent free to their handsets, and for 20c per message update their pages directly via SMS.

Elements of the Bebo Open Mobile platform have also been adopted by O2 UK, Canadian operators Bell Mobility, Fido, Rogers Wireless and Virgin, and 3 Ireland.
