Vodafone data revenue up 50 per cent

Operator says usage up in the quarter ending June due to better tariffs sales of its broadband dongles.

Vodafone says it generated £664 million from data services (excluding messaging) across its group in the quarter ending June 30th, up 50.6 per cent from £441 million in the same period last year.

The company attributes the growth to an 84.1 per cent rise in usage of its PC connectivity devices and 'attractive' data tariffs across European markets.

Vodafone didn't breakdown how much of its data revenue came from its mobile content services.

Total group revenue for the quarter increased by 19.1 per cent to £9.8 billion from 269 million customers.
