Vodafone will make its MusicStation music subscription service free to some users.
The UK opco kicked off the all-you-can-eat music store with a provisional £1.99-per-week deal, but says subscribers using specified handsets on 18-month contracts at over £40 per month can get it for nothing.Voda's deal with Omnifone for MusicStation was announced last month. It was Omnifone’s second formal agreement, after Telenor Sweden signed up in the summer. MusicStation offers subscribers unlimited music for a flat monthly fee. It’s been widely touted as the mobile industry’s riposte to iPhone/iTunes.
It’s also been revealed that Vodafone will list Nokia’s N81 this Christmas, implying that the operator will also support Nokia’s soon-to-launch music store too (N81 is the flagship device for the new service).
Apparently T-Mobile won’t. It has reportedly turned down the device, fearing competition for its own 'Jukebox' music service.
