Teen-focused virtual world Meez is launching MeezNation, a spin-off making its debut on Android and iOS devices.
With more than 15 million users, Meez is one of the popular virtual worlds aimed at teenagers. Now it's going mobile, with plans to launch a new cross-platform spin-off called MeezNation.
It will launch next week with an Android app, with iPhone and iPad versions to follow in March, before ultimately extending onto the Google TV and Xbox Live platforms too.
MeezNation will include 3D chat, games and media sharing, along with messaging, virtual items and a storefront to buy 'in-app animations' for users' avatars.
However, Meez is also looking to attract mobile game developers to build social games for the new service, using Flash, Unity or Java.
"MeezNation is the first step in directly addressing how users are accessing content, games and brands – from anywhere and on any device," says CEO John Cahill. "We look forward to expanding the number of platforms we reach Meez users with and to giving game developers more access to Meez users, wherever they are."

If Cahill's name sounds familiar, that's because he was GM of mobile games at Yahoo between 2004 and 2006, when the company was mulling bringing its web casual games service to mobile.
