Kickstarter project has reached its £50,000 target five times over.
Having previously developed a solar powered LED lamp via Kickstarter, tech startup WakaWaka is no stranger to using the crowd-sourced fundraising platform and has returned to produce a solar powered mobile charger.
The firm initially had a $50,000 target but has passed it by more than five times to cross $260,000. The charger is said to work on almost any mobile device including iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, and Samsung.
With a single days charge in the sun, WakaWaka claims it can provide a reading light for around 40 hours or offer iPad users at least two hours extra device usage on full brightness.
There's been some interesting battery-based innovation over the past year or so as mobile games, emails and so on hungrily drain power. The most notable ones include; a new tech to charge a phone in ten minutes, a water-based charging option, and a breath-based charging concept.
