Opens more APIs for developers and trumpets its V CAST store.
Verizon has made its latest move to court application developers, opening up APIs that will let them dig into its location and messaging services.
The company talked up its V CAST app stores for BlackBerry and Android at its developer conference yesterday, saying that 5,000 developers have already registered with Verizon.
The store is already available on selected BlackBerry smartphones, and will now also be preloaded on Verizon's range of Android handsets running the latest 2.2 version of Google's OS.
VP Greg Haller confirmed at the event that BlackBerry and Android handsets sold through Verizon will NOT ship with BlackBerry App World or Android Market also preloaded.
However, customers will not be blocked from manually downloading and installing them if they want to.
