The deal has been a case of 'when, not if' for some time now, and the event announcement has given rise to more rumours about the nature of the agreement.
The Wall Street Journal claims that Verizon will start selling a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 at the end of this month.
Meanwhile, All Things Digital reports that Verizon may offer the device with an unlimited data tariff costing around $30 a month, undercutting rival AT&T, which ditched its own unlimited plans last year.

Analysts are already speculating that Verizon alone could sell 9-12 million iPhones this year, upgrading 5% of its customers to the device in the first quarter of its availability.
