Verizon recruits 1,000 developers

US operator proclaims major developer interest ahead of app store launch.

Verizon announced plans for a Developer Community Conference and the Verizon Developer Community (VDC), an on-line help site to guide coders through the creation, marketing and sale of the application.

It has now confirmed 1,000 registrations to the latter.

It also set up the “Apply Your Ideas Contest” for new apps to run on the Blackberry Storm. The Grand Prize winner gets $50,000 and marketing support.
