Clear Channel tying into US operator's mobile music store.
US radio conglomerate Clear Channel is releasing an exclusive version of its iheartradio app for BlackBerry smartphones on Verizon Wireless.
What's exclusive about it? The app ties into Verizon's V Cast music store, letting users buy full-tracks, ringtones and ringback tones of songs they hear on the 400+ streaming radio stations in the app.
MocoNews reports that it's part of an earlier partnership between Verizon and Research In Motion, making the new version of iheartradio one of the first smartphone apps to be customised for a specific operator.
iheartradio has been downloaded more than four million times now on iPhone and BlackBerry, and Clear Channel says it is planning to launch an Android version this month.
