But with an ad rather than an app.

US band Vampire Weekend are building buzz for their new album with an interactive ad placed within iPhone app NPR News.

The ad starts as a banner, then expands into a full-screen video of the band playing - with users able to shake their iPhone to switch scenes.

Their label XL Recordings worked with mobile advertising firm Medialets on the campaign, according to Business Insider.

Every band and their aunt seems to have an iPhone app nowadays, but relatively few have run this kind of creative mobile advertising campaign.

Last year, AdMob worked with pop band Mini Viva, but the campaign was a more traditional mix of text ads and banners.
