ustwo's Whale Trail hits 100,000 paid downloads

On its way to the 300,000 needed to break even.

Whale Trail has been smothered in hype since its launch last month, mostly due to the indefatigable efforts of ustwo's hyperactive founder and chief cheerleader Millsy.

Whale Trail is its first game, and has received good reviews and been made Game of the Week' in 78 countries.

Now, Millsy has told pocketgamer.biz that the title is generating between 4,000 and 11,000 downloads a day.

He has declared before that the game, which cost around £150,000 to develop, needs to sell 300,000 to return the investment and that he hopes to hit half a million downloads by Christmas.

Well, it's on its way. And an imminent update, with new challenges and unlockable levels, should provide a sales boost.

ustwo make apps for third parties, but also ringfences a good amount of budget to make its own products in order to see what works in the market and thereby improve the quality of the firm's third consultancy.
