It's good news for web-video wannabes on iPhone and Android handsets.
Video startups Ustream and Qik have announced new features for their presences on iPhone and Android respectively.
Ustream has launched a new iPhone app called Ustream Recorder, which lets people shoot video and then upload it to the web while sharing it on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
What it doesn't have, yet, is the ability to live-stream video footage to the web - the raison d'etre of Ustream's web service. Apple doesn't yet allow livestreaming apps onto its App Store.
Meanwhile, Qik has updated its existing Android application with a speed sharing feature, making it quicker for users to share their vids on Twitter and Facebook, as well as by email. The app also has new editing features.
The two applications are part of an increasingly crowded market. iPhone already has similar apps from companies including Kyte and TwitVid.
