US mobile market passes 250 million subscriber mark.
Figures released by industry trade body CTIA reveal that the US market customer base has grown 352 per cent since 1997, when the figure stood at just 55 million.By way of comparison, the GSMA says Western Europe is home to 444.4 million mobile users and Asia Pacific 924 million.
CTIA president and CEO Steve Largent said: "This explosive growth shows that the mobile communications revolution is in full swing. Whether you work on Wall Street or at home, live in a small town or a big city, wireless reaches people exactly where they're at and gives folks the ability to communicate and connect with friends and family while on the move."
