US Cellular adopts Nuance's Voicemail-to-Text service

Free 30-day trial before $2.99 monthly charge.

Communication specialist Nuance's platform will enable customers of the American operator to receive their voicemail via text messages and emails, rather than dialing up the messenger and listening to calls when on the move.

Additionally, users are able to access their voicemail from within the text message or email if required.

John Pollard, general manager and VP, voice to text services, Nuance Mobile, said: "In today's competitive mobile market, carriers need to offer their subscribers innovative services that deliver tangible, everyday value.

"Dragon Voicemail-to-Text is known for quickly and conveniently making people more responsive, and simply eliminating the need to ever retrieve voice mail. And because it's powered by Dragon - you always get the message."

U.S. Cellular subscribers will be offered a free 30-day trial of Voice Mail to Text before the $2.99 monthly charge is enforced.

Mobile speech recognition is a growing space, with the likes of personal assistant Siri on the iPhone 4S, which was created by Nuance, and apps Alfred and Evi also on the scene.

Meanwhile, ON Voicefeed, which was awarded an App Of The Day slot last month, also provides personalised voice messaging services.
