'Fan app made by fans' hopes to whip up the fervour as the club go for Premier League and Champions League glory.
Manchester United? There's an app for that. Not an official one though. Manchester United: For Everymanc A Religion (FEAR for short) is the work of developer Pledge Media, drawing on the poetry and artwork of Mike Garry.
The content includes crowd chants, wallpapers, news and videos, complete with its own Facebook and Twitter pages for promotional purposes.
"The objective of the app is to genuinely tune in to the culture of Manchester United fans, particularly those from Manchester," explains Mike Dunphy of MD Media Consulting, who besides being involved with FEAR, used to work at the club itself on its mobile strategy.
"This application is a genuine attempt by fans to deliver an app that other fans will like without stepping on the toes of the associated club through infringements of trademarks etc. Manchester United do not have an official app so this will no doubt prove very popular amongst fans."
