Sequoia Capital and Atari CEO chip in for development platform.
Unity Technologies, which makes a games development platform used for an increasing number of iPhone games, has announced a $5.5 million Series A funding round.
The round was led by VC firm Sequoia Capital, with participation from Atari CEO David Gardner and VMWare founder Diane Greene.
More than 325 iPhone games are using Unity's 3D engine, including hit title Zombieville USA.
The news comes as Unity holds its Unite Conference in San Francisco this week, inviting developers to tutorials in the system, as well as networking.
"We are very pleased with the market recognition and adoption of our products and technology," says CEO David Helgason.
