Unity has 750,000 developers

Huge vote of confidence for 3D developer tools specialist.

The firm says 200,000 of its developers – 26 per cent – are active monthly.

Unity offers a development platform for 3D interactive content on the web, PC, Mac, Wii and iPhone.

This latest growth stat is pretty spectacular and reflects the growing graphical sophistication of apps – and games especially. Unity has 100,000 developers in Feb 2010.

Unity also confirmed 80 million installations of its Unity web player, which is double the 40 million it claimed a year ago.

"We're amazed at how rapidly Unity continues to grow in popularity globally," said David Helgason, Unity's CEO.

It also launched the Union Distribution service to helps developers publish across multiple platforms.
