Nine entrants on the Sunday Times Rich List made their money from mobile – but from flogging phones, not content.
The august UK newspaper has been publishing these top 1,000 lists for many years, and they always attract ghoulish interest.
This year a number of mobile-related business people have made it. But seven of them – John Caudwell (40), Charles Dunstone (67), David Ross (178), Peter Jones (291), Guy Johnson (449), Alan Jackson (583), Yevgeny Chichvarkin (583) – made their money from handset retail.
The other two – Richard Branson (19), Mo Ibrahim (145) – made their wealth from mobile networks.

Overall, the 1,000 richest people are now worth £395.8bn, according to the survey.
