The UK newspaper industry continues to embrace mobile, with The Daily Mirror launching its own WAP site.

Mirror Mobile contains all the news and features of the Mirror’s website, with no subscription or registration needed. It offers a personal news service, tailored to the individual as well as live sports updates via Matchtracker and astrology and weather sections. Users can select the categories most important to them and specifically build their own personal homepage.

Richard Wallace, editor of the Daily Mirror, said: “Mirror mobile will give our readers access to the Mirror wherever they are. We’re giving our users the news they want, when they want it and in the format of their choice.”

The launch is the first of 13 companion mobile websites being rolled out across Trinity Mirror’s national and regional titles. It is working with Bluestar Mobile and Nokia in developing the sites.
