Forty one per cent of UK 13-15 year olds listen to music on their mobiles.
And they do it more than four times a week, according to new research from music industry consultancy Frukt. The general theme from company's latest Lightspeed Online Consumer Panel (of 900 people) is that UK consumers say technology means they now listen to more music than ever before.
Usage of mobile phones for listening to music falls off to 24 per cent among 16-24 year-olds and then to 13 percent and four per cent for 25-39 year-olds and the over-40s, respectively.
Overall 19 per cent of UK consumers listen to music on their phones more than four times a week.
Conversely, three quarters of 13-15 year olds listen to MP3 players at least four times a week. Although this figure again drops with older age groups, around 20 per cent of over 40s are listening to MP3 players more than four times a week.

A common thread among all age groups in the Frukt study is the growing importance of social networking to discover new music - 59 per cent of those surveyed use such services, rising to 80 per cent among 13-15 year olds and a third of over-40s.
