The mobile industry has come a long way since the days of simple calls, text messages and a game of Snake. Now, features such as augmented reality, LTE and sound recognition can all play a part on the devices.
However, UK phone owners have revealed they find a series of mobile phone terms increasingly confusing, with 62 per cent in the dark as to what 'data roaming' is, according to comparison site GoodMobilePhones.co.uk.
When asked to describe what 'data roaming' (overseas web browsing) means, 26 per cent were correct, while 52 per cent believed it meant accessing emails while on the move around town.
Other answers to 'Which mobile phone related terms do you not fully understand, if any?' showed 56 per cent are confused by 3G. Additionally, 47 per cent were bemused by MMS, 43 per cent said wi-fi and 28 per cent said Bluetooth.
There is significant room for improvement as more than three-quarters say that they believe the operator didn't provide enough guidance about the phone during purchase.

Mark Owen, MD, GoodMobilePhones.co.uk, said: "Data Roaming can be a bit of a minefield, and there are always horror stories of people running up hundreds of pounds on their bill whilst abroad, because they failed to take into account the increased charges that can apply when overseas.
"It’s important that you make yourself aware of the extra charges that can apply before going abroad, and ensure that you take the necessary precautions to avoid racking up a huge bill!”
"Luckily in 2010, the European Union capped the amount that the networks can charge for data roaming within its borders at €50.00 a month. Still, if you are going abroad, always check with your network to see what the charges are going to be for using the internet."
