UK subscribers will own an average of two mobiles by the end of 2009, if current rates persist.
The Daily Telegraph and Mintel polled 1,000 people and found the average phone owner now has an average of 1.8 handsets, largely because of business and home use.Jim Clark, a senior analyst with Mintel, said: "With the average person now owning 1.8 phones we are fast moving towards a two-phone per person society. What is more, as purse strings tighten, it seems the one thing that the nation is not prepared to cut back on is the mobile phone."
